No such thing as a
cowboy anymore
but he got the boots
and the gun
and the steel horse

Thinks of her sometimes
when he sees the sunrise
(or in the black before dawn)

On the new year and
at Christmastime

Where did my
heart go the one broken
so many times

the one raging with
wildfire and wounded
and spitting light in
bolts to everyone

the one teaming with joy
and running unstoppable
through forests
through third world streets

through Europe through
North America

(I want you back)

Winter Solstice Eve

Good morning
(for all my troubles
and all my disappearing
and all my running away
and all my anguish)

Times of solstice
times of forever
(remember the speech I gave
about how THIS is the infinite,
now is infinity

I think I was rambling as I ran backwards
through the forest talking to you)

There is snow blowing through the air
in Montana today

children celebrate the mythologies
they are inculcated into

Never pausing, even as adults
to deconstruct
the fatal machine
Each person is a new
cosmos

God is existence expressing
itself through you

All of your life has been my poem
something one could drink like
a shot of light (but only if that
someone knew how to stop time,
and visit certain moments of you)

You cannot prove to me
that either of us will ever die
or that we will not expire at
precisely the same moment

or that we are not eternal twins
permeating worlds
incarnation after
incarnation

Who stole your prophecies
supplanted ego with flowers
praying Mantis outside my door

(mother spider who witnessed the
creation of us that moment

this secret mythology
only we know)

The new snow of
my angel

She guides lives through
her soul which is surrendered

(hers is the king of kings
and she brought me back
to him)
